Car Park Sell Off

The meeting on 19th June 2008 at Coleshill Town Hall brought revelation after revelation to the public arena thanks to MP Mike O'Brien. Unconfirmed sources stated that the council had chosen to ignore a high valuation for the land in order to secure a deal with property developers. it also appears that the land would be subject to a contract with the developers within 10 days from now. This deal would be prior to any planning permission being granted. The question is asked how can any council controlled planning team vote on a planning permission that will ultimately benefit the council? It also became clear that the proceeds of any land sale would not necessarily benefit any residents of coleshill and it was stated at the same point in the meeting that the council were looking for new office facilities. At the end of the meeting a vote was taken and the proposed sale was voted against by 182 to 1 with 7 abstensions. Obviously the people of Coleshill are against the sale now lets see if the council are for the people of Coleshill!
